Hi...I just had my bunion and all of my hammer toes done on June 30, 2003. I have pins sticking out of my toes, but they are covered. The pain is not too bad, but I was wondering if anyone had any aches or pains in any other part of their body after the surgery. I seem to have an ache under my right arm (not in the armpit.) It seems muscular. I am doing my second foot on July 29th.....wish I could have done them at the same time. Thanks....Fern

Hi, phearns,
I had surgery to correct bunion & hammertoe deformity (2nd toe) on right foot 6/3. I had a pretty extensive procedure that involved cutting the 1st metatarsal and placing 2 titanium screws, so I was in hard casts for 3 weeks. I had all kinds of muscle aches in my arms and shoulders due to using a walker and basically hopping on my left foot, but after about a week I looked like I had been going to the gym! I was also getting weird aches and pains in my hips from lounging around too much. All this stuff gradually disappeared (thank God) once I was out of the casts and into a "walking cast/boot". So don't despair, it's just your body rebelling against using muscles in different ways, and it should pass. Hope this helps a little.

It is entirely possible that your anesthesia was administered in the underarm area. When I had my wrist surgery I had a huge bruise that lasted for a month on the back of my left arm. The night after surgery, the anesthesia IV site hurt worse than the surgical site!

Thanks for the info.....I also started noticing a burning sensation in my breasts that were never there before.....just had a mamography a few months ago..not that.....I will watch it. I have to do the other foot in two weeks......I can't wait for it to be over.
