hi everyone. i just have a quick question about toenail fungus. my big toe is what is raising the question. it is thick and kind of flakey at the edge and has a slight yellowish tint. the rest of my toenails are fine. so is it fugus? if so any suggestions on how to treat it besides antibiotics? thanks.

Toenail fungus or "Wooden Nail" as it is sometimes referred to, is a royal pain, literally. Have you seen your doctor yet? A cream called Lamasil (prescription) if applied religiously will get rid of it. If left untreated, it will definitely spread to your other toenails and having the toenail removed doesn't get rid of it without the accompanying med I mentioned above. Otherwise you'll be using tin snips or hoof trimmers to do prune those things and they will get thicker as time goes on.

I would go to my doctor and see if I could get a prescription for Lamisil. The Cream, doesn't really work if applied topically. (I've used it) and I am trying to get the pill prescription. Maybe the cream would work for you. you could give it a try. but, most home remedies, or topical remedies don't work.
good luck. Don't let it spread!
I am trying Lamisil cream for Athletes Foot, and you are right, it doesn't work. I am pretty much at the point of begging for the pill...I've had AF for 6 months, and am beginning to go insane!
