I had bunion surgery and some repairs done on my second toe on July 2, 03. I went 2 days ago, which was day 19 to have a pin removed from the second toe. The doctor was unable to remove it. I was told to return in a week and it would be easier to remove. Has anyone experienced a problem with pin removal?

hi!
i had removable pins in both my feet. i was warned by someone who had the surgery years ago that removal of the pin is painful - but when my left pin was removed, it didn't hurt at all - the doctor did have to "work" it out though. so i did feel a little tugging. was also warned by the doc that my foot would swell up after the removal, and yes, it did. but when i had my right pin removed, it just slipped right out b/c it was just ready to be removed. and it did not even swell up more (foot is still a bit swollen since the surgery) hope that helps you out.

thelittleprincess,
Thanks for your reply! I guess every case is different. I hope my pin is ready to come out next week---I'm really ready for it to come out! It did not hurt while he was trying to remove it...just a lot of "tugging". It did hurt when he pinched my toe to hold it where my incision is!!

Every case is different. Pins came out yesterday after 6 weeks. On of them stung, another one I couldn't really feel it and the last one hurt real bad. I hurt from the last one for quite a while. It still hurts there at times worse than others.
