The doctor says I have bursitis of the hip. I have had this pain for a long time and he just recently gave me a steriod injection (Oct 11) and it was suppose to work for 3 months or so but the pain came back already. It bothers me alot during the night and I cannot sleep. I also have osteoarthritis.
Anyone have an alternative solution that will help??
Thanks
Mary

I was not diagnosed with arthritis( never went to the doc to have it checked either) but i had all the symptoms.
Its been a little over a year since ive had it, and its pretty much gone.
when i eat lots of sugar is when it hurts. but its minor anymore and dont last very long 2-3 hours
i found out i had a bad thyroid. my muscles were weak and i went for a 10 mile run. after that my hips were hurting really bad.I think thats how i got it.
my hips were stiff, even my lower back was stiff and hurt to sit and move at first, also a dull ache pain that hurt really bad. i also lost lots of sleep it seemed to hurt really bad then.
my left hip never hurts anymore and my right one only hurts when i eat refined sugar(pop, candy)
I can go jogging again. 3-4 miles a day seems to be ok =)
im not sure about any marathons!
my diet: vegetarian( no meat what so ever). little dairy(no egg). I know this is hard for people
but believe me its really easy once you start and put your mind to it...
bobs whole grain cereal , steamed veggies with braggs liquid amino acids and flaxseed oils.( i also heard fish oil is good for arthritis) salads, fruits daily etc. .... no junk foods, no processed foods.. only foods that are natural and will have nutritional value..
me i would stay away from synthetic unatural man made medicines
ice it daily. and take warm bathes with salts.
you should be able to beat this with a good diet of foods

Thanks Corey...maybe it is the refine sugar I eat that makes it flare up. I think I will try to stop eating sugary foods/soda and give it a test.
Your symptoms sound just like mind. I just got over a stiff hurting acheing back. I could not even sleep at night because anytime I tried to turn over, it would hurt and when I woke in the morning I could not even get out of bed and when I did, I had to take baby steps . It sucks when a person had back pain. Now my bursitis does not hurt at the moment, that went away for now. So my back pain went away as of today and my bursitis is alots better so hopefully I will continue to do better. But I will most definitely try to stay awy from the refine sugar even thought I like sweets.
Its funny cause all this pain is on my left leg. I told the doctor I needed a new left leg. I do not take any drugs for my osteoarthritis I take supplements containing Glucosamine and they have worked for my hands but not for my hip. I do not like taking drugs (meds) unless Im dying or hurting real bad.
Thanks for reading my post and good luck to you too. Keep in touch and if you find something else that works for you, please pass it along to me and I am always looking for new ways to be pain free.
