What should I do about an ingrown toenail. I've never had one hurt this badly. It hurts so much that it bothers me when I walk. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

You may want to try the following before making an appointment.

Soak foot in warm, soapy water several times a day..

Gently lift the edge of the ingrown toenail from the embedded position and insert some cotton or waxed dental floss between the nail and skin.

Change packing daily.

In the future, trim your toenails straight across with no rounded corners.
The length of your toenail should extend out past your skin.

Make sure your socks or stockings are not too tight.
Keep feet clean at all times.
