I would greatly appreciate insight to a surgery called: Right metatarsal phalangeal fusion and Interphalangeal resection arthroplasty (aka a mouth full!)this involves removing section above the bunion and from the next bone above & then using a thin metal plate to fuse the two together.
In addition to a bunion removal and hammertoe straightening.
I have been reading the board for about a week (all the messages) and everyone here is so supportive, well I was hoping someone may have had this done and could enlighten me about what's coming that the doc doesn't say. (I feel I have a great surgeon to do this - I'm just jumpy (pun) about surgery)
Thanks....

Hey-
I don't know if this is the same thing, but sounded kinda close. I had a fusion done 2 years ago and was a really good experience! I had a bunion removed and then a bone graft from my heel fused into the metatarsal bone to keep it straight. I had good results and I will tell you to have plenty of ice packs to put on it for swelling. Good luck and you will do fine! Have help after surgery to get you things and drive you around if necessary! BYE!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
