I just had the procedure on Monday and was wondering what I could expect in the weeks to come. My doctor said at minimum 2 weeks NWB then I go to LWB for 4 weeks. Is this normal? I've always heard at least 4 weeks NWB. Also, my toes on my left foot feel numb from the base of the toes to mid foot(as far as I can feel with my cast on) and am sure it continutes up the foot. Anybody have any experience with this?

I had a Brostrom done back in June, so, I can tell you a bit about my experience.
I was NWB for 2 1/2 weeks, then I was allowed to go from PWB to FWB as tolerated (it took me 2-3 days to completely ditch the crutches after being allowed to start WB).
I've heard of some people though whose surgeons don't allow WB until 4-6 weeks post-op...So, it all depends on the surgeon and their practice.
With the numbness, it's completely normal. I had major numbness until about 6 weeks post-op, and since then, it's decreased, but I still do have a bit on the top, left side of my foot, and I'm told that it's normal. In fact, sometimes, the numbness after surgery never goes away.

hi iv just had this surgery also on 5th november as far as i know was a success the surgeon says, iwas worried too as my surgeon says go home and weightbare with plaster cast and a special shoe,i was a bit shocked as reading mostly non weightbare but as you say different surgeons say different.I am at home now was very nervous to weightbare i have a walker and i only do a little each day,but the inside of the ankle hurts still is this normal,i dont want to overdo it,i have the sutures out wednesday 21st then if all is okay which i pray is i will be in plaster again for a few more weeks.I am only just 50 so it was a big step for me to take but my quality of life was awful these last 6 months i hardly went out due to pain and the limping.I hope i can walk better and free from pain,il keep you posted.First impressions so far i am glad i did it.
