Mostly everyone here has heard my story; I’m 26yrs old and had brain surgery almost 7 months ago and been free since and all test are normal now. I’m still taking Keppra 3000mg/day and Trileptal 1200mg/day. I saw my Neuro 3 days ago for my 6 months post surgery follow up and he said he will tamper me off my meds in five months, but I mentioned I been waiting to tamper off the meds to become pregnant. Without hesitation he recommended me to begin taking folic acid pills and I could conceive whenever I wanted with no problems. But to be honest I been on different AEMs for 11 years, but I always been afraid of becoming pregnant and having a child w defects, Im engaged and my fiance feels we should wait a year to be sure. The neuro assured me the baby would be fine as long as I take folic acid while Im still on my meds but I’m not sure. Has any female been pregnant while on their AEMs, and how were the nine months? How would it affect my baby and me when the neuro begins to decrease my meds? I might just wait till next year, but the nurse said it could be a little more than a year by the time Im completely off, plus in 2 months ill b 27 and I never been pregnant b4, Im just weighting my options.. Thanks in advance for your help.
