My mom was sent home to die and I called a hospice and they seem super nice. We live in nebraska and her primary doctor seems so reluctant to give her proper meds. Just found out that the hospice does not have a practicing medical director. she is on 10 mg oxycontin, one every 12 hours and 10-15 mg of a liquid morhine sulfate. She still is in pain and I sleep by her and it just kills me to listen to her. They gave me heck for letting her take too many pills as to be fair she is only 88 lbs from 108 usual weight. If they do not take her pain I am willing to put her my motorhome and go to any doctor or state where they are not so conserative as here. Time is of the essence, I watched my dad die in so much agony in the hospital and promised mom that this would not happen to her. Please help anyone

Navarone.......I am very sorry to hear about your mom. I don't know what her diagnosis is, but I do know that there is absolutely no reason she should have to spend her remaining days in pain. My mom is dying from extensive small cell lung cancer and she also has hospice services for the past ten months. They do have a medical director and my mother has been kept almost pain free. My first suggestion would be to speak with the social worker within hospice to let them know the problem. If you get no action there, I would certainly suggest
maybe finding a different hospice that does have a medical director and can actually prescribe the pain medications that are needed to keep your mom comfortable. That is what hospice is all about....keeping the pain under control. I hope you can get this worked out for your mom's sake. It is simply unacceptable to watch your mom be in so much pain when she doe'sn have to be.
Take care and keep in touch. My prayers are with you both.
