:nono: I'm on day 7 after my 10/24 bunion, hammertoe surgery on right foot. I have been totally elevating each day since then, except to go to bathroom. I went to work Monday but my foot hurt so I didn't go Thursday - and continued total elevation. Went to work Wednesday and thought I was doing fine. By the end of the day my foot and leg hurt worse than it ever has - also ached. Even meds didn't help. Went home and elevated, took meds. Stayed home from work today, Thursday, and am elevating. It's doing fine without meds. Just took early this morning and slept several hours.
It really scared me because I wondered what I did wrong. I guess I didn't elevate it enough at work. I was on crutches and I used my heel just a little bit to take some of the pressure off my shoulders which were really sore. Don't know if that had any affect or not.
I guess my bod is telling me I need to cool it a bit. I do better when I keep it elevated, but I do need to be at work. Wonder if I should be more focused on taking total elevation breaks at work, if that would help.
My first fup appt with my surgeon is next Thursday. Will know for sure how I'm doing, get a cast, etc.
I have no reason to believe that my process won't go well with good results, and I have to make sure I don't do anything to compromise that.
Anyway, I knew going in this was a long journey, but it didn't really sink in until after the surgery - andin reading posts here of everyone's experiences.
