Hello,

I wanted to find out if anyone has had a Triple Arthodesis. The reason i'm asking is I had a lateral column lengthing on 12/02 and the surgery didn't take
I also had gastrosoleus recession done also had a calcaneal osteotomy also had metatarsal cuneiform fusion. Now I need a triple athodesis was curious if anyone has gone though this procedure. Let me know what can I expect from the surgery. I've had painful foot since 1997 can not walk. Permantly disabled because I waited to long to have the foot surgery so the Dr says. Anyone out there need surgery get the surgery before you become permantly disabled. Well everyone take care. crippled trevs

I have not the exact sugery but have had four joints fused in the center of my foot, talonavicular joint and the cuboids. At the present I am in the process of the fusion of the navicular joint and a cuboid with a graft from the heel. I have spent a total of 9 months in a non-weight bearing cast in the last 20 months. Four different surgeries. I think it will be over in another 3 weeks, total of 11 weeks in a non-weight bearing cast.

Take care

I also had a lateral column lengthening with Gastroc recession and FDL transfer to navicular. When you say the surgery didn't work, what do you mean???

I have had a failed calcaneal osteotomy with lateral column lengthening and bilateral gastroc recessions as well as a repair of my posterior tib tendon. 3 surgeries done and 1 more to go on 8/19/03 for another fusion involving calcaneal cuboid joint so yes I am familiar with the need for a triple arthodesis. I spent almost a year in cast, 6 months on crutches and still live with chronic pain at age 32. I hope this next fusion and surgery works. I have a desk job and have managed to continue working through it all. I'm sorry yours is so bad. My thoughts and prayers are with us all as we go through these processess and surgeries. Paula

PLE,

When you say that your calcaneal surgery failed what does that mean exactly? That the pain never went away or the new shape of the foot didn't hold (or both)? I'm scheduled for one in 2 weeks and was thinking that these surgeries are fairly successful. Did the doc say why it failed? Thanks for the information.

I just had triple fusion on 8/11/03 3 nights in hospital. I will tell anyone who is scheduled to have this surgery get a second opinion. There is alot of pain with this surgery so far it has not been worth it. I'll keep everyone updated on my post-op. Take care.
