Hi Mbeth-I take 15mg of Vitamin K2 (Menatetrenone), 2000-3000IU of Vitamin D, 400mg of magnesium glycinate and 300 of magnesium citrate. Calcium I usually get from food but I have microcrystalline hydroxyapatite around in case I miss a calcium source at a meal.
Apparently, vitamin K2 is not as significant a bone-builder as strontium (I think it yields a 1% increase per year, but that's better than nothing).

Hey Starfish I have osteoporosis....3.2 which is moderate high increase for spinal fractures and I am only taking 1000mg of Vit D. I noticed in your posting that you are taking 2000 - 3000 daily ... maybe mine needs to be increased as the doc said I was deficient in Vit D but told me 1000. How much is too much??

Hey Canna and Mbeth-I was taking 1000/day until a year ago, then I upped it to 2000, followed by 3000. I had my vitamin D levels checked this past summer and they were slightly high (125), so I cut back to 2000. I just saw a naturopath last week about something unrelated, but as he was looking over the new patient form I filled out he noted the BMD concerns. He suggested going back to 3000 and said that as long as your blood levels aren't over 200 (200 I don't know whats) that 3000 is very safe and beneficial. So I'm now back to 3000/day.

Excellent information about vit d levels can be found at the Vitamin D Council . The council is made up of MDs and PhD's with specialization in metabolism of vit d and study of vit d deficiency. Check that out for guidance on amount to take and levels to be aimed for.
