I am now on day 51 of my headache I don't add the s because it hasn't gone away its been covered up but never gone. My primary pain is front right side, with a vise vise like effect between the front and back mostly on the right side. The Docs keep on trying migraine treatments on me none have worked, also things like light and noise don't make it worse. It started on sunday in mid september for the first week I tried every OTC remedy I could find, every morning stop at walgreens on the way to work nothing helped finally that friday I went to the walk-in clinic in the evening I have no history of headaches and have never had a problem like that before hell I even told the Doc I was embarrassed about showing up at the clinic over a headache. They assured me that it is quite normal for people to do and sent me out the door with a scrip for vicodin. The vic took the edge off but did get rid of the headache just made it tolerable. Since then I have been given more different meds to try than I can keep track of. The only thing that I got real relief from was percocet, but when I was turned over to the neurolgist he narcotics are not good for headaches so I went back to constant pain.I have had a CT, a CTA, and an MRI, as well as several diff. blood tests all normal, next test is a spinal tap they say. I sleep, not well, I work but its a struggle. I had no signifigant event to set off this headache either, I just really don't think its a migraine if anyone has any suggestions I could toss a my neuro I would appreciate it greatly. Also that quack has got me on topamax for almost 4 weeks now. I think that stuff is messing me up bad. I zone out alot, my right hand has developed a wicked bad shake(i'm right handed and work with electriciy, blew up a screwdriver last week).I'm constantly tired and fatigued all that and still have the headache.

Hi Quanto, Ask your doc to take an x-ray of your cervical neck. I have arthritis of the cervical neck. I have the same type of headache you have, right sided, feels like a vise grip on it. Had the headaches for years, take ibuprofen 800 mg. It is the only thing that comes close to helping, except for the one time the Neuro gave me Elavil. It worked like a dream for a year, then it stopped working. I have other problems that can make the headache worse, so I am now on lyrica, cymbalta, flexeril and still have plenty of ibuprofen handy for when it gets bad, but for the most part, I think the flexeril really helps.

Hey QUANTO, Let us know how you are doing. I know that sometimes nothing works for me either, I guess we just have to put up with it:confused:, but hopefully you will get some relief soon, I can almost put up with anything else, but the headaches just do me under.:(
Take care,

Quanto, it seems like i have the same problem. i also have a headache every day and it sometimes turns into a migraine. almost every day i wake up with an excruciating headache and i don't even want to get up. i have talked to a doctor but never really pursued it very far. don't really want to pay the money. OTCs don't really work. If you find out anything about it please post cause i think ours might be similar. Keep hangin' in there.

I just got the neck x-rays done yesterday haven't heard back yet. The neuro is taking me off Topamax after I told him what it was doing to me. Funny I called and talked to the several times about the side effects she must not have even been even passing that info to the doc. When I finally talked to him directly taking me off Topamax was an immediate decision. That stuff is bad news, might has as well just smoke pot all day. Still have a lot of pain though mostly in the neck now headaches aren't as bad. I wish someone could figure out what is going on.

Be sure and let us know what your results are with the X-rays. I just found out yesterday that I have a mildly bulging disk n the cervical C-6 and C-7, well, that certainly explains why I get a lot of headaches. I got some trigger point injections in the neck and it helped a lot, but probably won't last. I may have to get cortisone injections. Keep in touch...

Hello, this is GA_gal and I'm 52. I'm in a similar situation. I have been suffering with severe neck pain and headaches every single day for the past 5 months now going on the 6th month. My brain feels as if it is in a pot of boiling water, I'm unable to move my neck in any direction and the burning with my brain coupled with the pain in my neck leads to me to have severe migraines anywhere from 2 to 3 times per week. I've had to go to the emergency room on several occasions and know one seems to be able to figure out what's going on or what to give me to ease or eliminate the pain. So far, I've been on Topamax, Relpax, Naproxen, Lamictal, Methocarbamol, Carbamazepine, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Cymbalta and a host of other medications. I've had MRI's and CT Scans and nothing shows up. All I know is that I can't continue to keep going on like this. I'm seeing a far too many doctors for me not to be getting any answers or results.

I have been on Elavil for 30+ days and am having some relief (finally) from the chronic daily headache. Don't know what I'll do if it stops working. I've been going through the daily headache thing for more than 10 years, and migraines for 20. I've spent too much time in bed and want my life to be normal. praying the Elavil keeps working!
