Well, it's been a long, long struggle but it's paying off now. I went for my 8 week post op check today and after 6 weeks in a cast and 2 with light weight bearing, I WALKED out of the office today. I feel wonderful. No pain, just a little stiff. The amazing thing is, the support and tightness of a regular shoe has caused my swelling to practically stop. My foot looks all flat and normal. I would like to thank everyone on this board for all their input and encouragement. It made it alot easier to deal with knowing I am not alone.

When I started talking to my dr about surgery on my left foot, he actually looked surprised like he didn't think I would go through with it. I told him I am going to compare this experience to child birth. As bad as you think it is at the time, you are willing to do it again because of the rewards it brings. NO MORE UGLY PAINFUL FEET!!!!!

Hi Sonia, I feel human again today too!! I got my cast off. Am now in a surgical shoe and am limping around the house using one crutch some of the time but it's getting easier by the hour. I go back in 9 days at which time I should be able to wear a runner. I don't really have any pain, my foot just feels weak. I can't wait to soak it tonight in a bath. Thanks for all your input.......and good luck. Think I'll get my left foot done in Jan or Feb.

Congratulations Crutches! Isn't it the best feeling? Your foot is going to feel back to normal in no time. It only takes a couple of days for the muscles to get used to working again. I am going to get my left food done in October. I think it's a bit soon, but my dr said it is completely feasible. I start nursing school in January so I really have no choice.

Have fun soaking your foot and MOISTURIZE. Keep up updated on your progress!!!!

Congratulations to all of you, it's nice to hear some successes and recovery happening on time. But just out of curiosity what did you all have done? I'm scheduled to have a calcaneal osteotomy and none of the recovery stories sound as encouraging as yours so please tell me that you had the same thing and everything went according to plan.

I feel human again too.

Three pins came out today, July 22. Foot is looking really good. It is very soar and hurts. Will have to take a pain pill before going to bed tonight. Cannot bear weight on the front of foot yet. Walk on heel and middle of foot. Doctor said to gradually work into being able to put the foot all the way down to the floor and walk. He said stay in hard sole shoe 2 more weeks. Right foot was done so not ready to drive yet. But I am coming along nicely. Go back to the doctor in three weeks.

Miss my baths having had to take showers. Look forward to getting in the tub again tomorrow. Doctor said to wait until the holes left where the pins were close up which should be tomorrow.
