Hi,

I'm 39 yrs. old and went to a mobile testing called "Life Screening". I really went for my husband, but had myself done also. I've had a hysterectomy about 12 yrs. ago and can't drink milk very well, it clogs my sinus up. I took calcuim for about a yr. but don't anymore. I've been on cenestin hormone for yrs. and blame my leg cramps on that but have changed to premarin hormone with no change. I've been on clonapam for my legs for about 1 1/2 yrs. now. They check my arteries and also my heel with a ultrasound for osteprosis. My t- score came back as having Osteoprosis (-1.3.) My question is where in my body? and how bad is this t-score? I recently had a blood test for pth and calcuim and the pth was 35 in range and the calcium was 9.5 a bit higher of the range. Just wondering what I should do next? I do not have insurance right now and wonder if I should go to a primary dr. or gynecologist? Sorry for so many questions just looking for answers on if I should be worried or not.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read my story.

Hi and welcome to the board...with a score of -1.3 you don't have osteoporosis, you have ostepenia. Osteoporosis starts at a score of -2.5. Heel test give an idea of how your bones are , but to get a better picture of their denstiy your would need to have DEXA scan done. At your age and with that score you can do several things to help your bone density without seeing a dr. at this time or spending alot of money. Get back on the calcium supplements ( might want to check with your dr since you labs were high for that) and a good quality mutlivitamin. A womens formula will have what women need more of. You can also start doing weight bearing exercises, like jogging, walking, hiking, stair climbing and also start weight training. A good diet with calcium rich foods...dairy, dark green veggies, beans.... you can find list online. Do a search on osteopenia and you'll find info that will explain and give more detail of what to do and what other supplemnts might be helpful.

I really can't help you on where in your body the loss is, that would take more than a heel test. DEXA scans focus on are the hips, lumbar spine, wrist..places where the fractures can occur when a person has osteo. take care...phyllis
