View Full Version : Kegels before Prostate removal

It's been six weeks since my Laproscopic prostate surgery and I am for the most part continent. I wear a Tena SlenderPads Seviette during the day time and with the exception of the occational squirt it's dry by the end of the day. I night I wear nothing.

Now here is a question to ponder. I was doing the following for years prior to surgery.

Karate. I'm a second degree blackbelt and some of the kata's we do are really good at strengtening the abdomen muscles. Naihanchi and Sanchin katas are really good examples.
Kegels. I was doing these for about a year and a half to improve sexual performance in the bedroom. Basically it was to massage the prostate internally during orgasimes.

Did these help with my contience? I already knew what muscles needed work after surgery as I had already been using them.

Just wondering.

I'm sure the kegels were very helpful. I also did kegels before my LRP and even while I was catheterized. I had basic urinary control immediately after the catheter was removed a week after surgery and full control 5 weeks after that. I didn't even use a rull box of Depends. I wish all docs would advise kegals - the sooner the better.
Good luck with your recovery.
