I hate to sound like an idiot, but I have a few questions and I hope you can help.
What are margins? I had colop yesterday because after my 2nd leep DR said sill not clear.
How many leeps are usually done before they try something else?
I have also had the laser treatment, I am positive for HPV, I am 43 years of age and have not had a normal pap for 3 years. Thank you!

A margin is the place where the incision is made. If the bad cells go to the end point of incision then the margins are not clear, since it likely extended into the tissue that still remains. Do you know what grade of CIN is extending past the margins? If not, I would highly recommend getting a copy of all your medical records, review them, and perhaps even forward them to another doctor for a second opinion. Its not unheard of for a third LEEP to be performed if you do not have a small cervix, but after that...there wouldn't be much left to LEEP. Cone biopsy could be another option perhaps, but I would definately consider seeking a second opinion in your case because of the amount of work already performed on your cervix.
