View Full Version : Orthodics...before or after surgery?

I had a tailors bunion corrected and also the 3rd metatarsal bone cut a few months back, unfortunatly the painful callous has returned under my 2nd metatarsal head. My doctor wants to try custom orthodics before he does another surgery to correct this, at a cost of about 400 dollars, my question is, isn't it a waste of money to wear them before the problem is fixed? I don't have a problem with paying for them to keep this from happening again but it seems like a waste to pay for something that isn't going to fix the problem, besides the fact that he said I would have to wear closed shoes at all times while I am up and moving around, no barefoot at all. I spend 80% of my time in the house and really don't want to have to wear shoes the whole time.
Anyone have luck with orthodics fixing the problem for them?
