They have told us today that they are stopping chemo on Brian. He has had only one treatment of the folfox. The doctors have said that Brian is too weak to take anymore treatments. He is dehydrated, getting in very little liquid. They have told me that without liquid and with how weak he is that there is nothing more they can do.

Jelz, I am so sorry to hear this news but, if he is too weak to tolerate the chemo, this is the best decision. My heart goes out to you and Brian....is his pain still under control?

Love and prayers,
Alison

It's better then it was. The doctor adjusted it today and at least he seems a little more comfortable. He is sleeping most of the time so I guess it has to be somewhat better. He wasn't sleeping well before. He is having some difficulty getting down the meds but the doctor said that if he needs to that they will put him on a pump.

hello jelz

im sorry to hear that your brian is so weak but thankful that the docs seem to be getting to grips with making him comfortable. its important to keep ontop of care and pain plan with the docs. adjustments often need to be made and in my experience it is the loved ones who notice the subtle changes first.

please take care of yourself.

Dear Jelz, I am so sorry to hear about Brian.
You and Brian are in my prayers. I am also sending you a huge cyber hug. I am sure you know that many here are sharing your pain.
Please make sure that you take care of yourself too.

I agree, it is the one's closest that would notice differences. I knew in my heart that they were not going to do the chemo. I was surprised when they did the first treatment. I could tell easily that he was becomming worse. Sometimes the doctors have so many patients that they can't remember everything about them all.
