This board sure is great a lot of good info. Hope someone can help me! I fell hurt left knee went to orth doc he x-ray said some cartiridge problem. Sent me to Physical Thearpy. I was given exceries on both legs. About 6 days ago I woke one morning early with a pinching, twisting pain like cramp in ankle area. I have called doc twice he said problem from exercies and therpist stated could have been. I have not been using that leg for exceries in 6 days, pain worse. I also have plantar faciitis now heals sore. I am taking Bextra and still excerising hurt knee leg. I will be calling doc tomorrow if he can't see me someone surely is going to because it hurts awful. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I am new at this board but seems to be a good way to get answers maybe better than docs office.

I had a major problem with synovitis ( this is where there is an inflammation of the lining in the joint ).I was in constant pain and it was always grabbing , pinching, in the center of the ankle. None of the NSAIDS helped, I had to be put on Panlor and Vicodan for pain. I wound up having arthroscopic surgery to remove the fluid. A MRI was used to detect this. One of the doctors didn't detect this and I went to the 2nd which did. It took a year to have the surgery. Sometimes my right leg and ankle hurts ( not bad ) because it is taking the brunt for my left leg. I tend to baby the bad leg. I am waiting to have my 4th and hopefully final surgery on my left ankle.
Look for any swelling in that ankle and let the doctor know the syptoms ( where the pain is at, what it feels like, and swelling) and let him take it from there. My pain was in the center of the joint, natural labor felt better, over the top of the foot was swollen, and the pain made me sick to my stomach.

Thanks kslittle*****. This is very interesting info. I might need to bring to docs attention, but no swelling and discoloration. I did not get to see reg doc but he said thought sciatic nerve in back. Did not offer MRI to confirm. I am going to make suggestion myself. Put me on 40 mg Bextra a day. Pain awful this am can hardly walk. I notice by your response you are from Augusta, Georgia. My doctors are in Augusta. I don't know these doctors just someone recommended. Can you suggest a good ortheo doctors I might use? I am not sure about the ones I am seeing now. Thanks again I am so thankful your problem is better sounds like you are on the right path and have a good doctor. Have a great pain free day!

Dr. Duncan is the best and he is at Sports Medicine of Augusta in the glass building by Doctors Hospital. I saw him when he was at MCG Sports Medicine. He has done 3 previous ankle surgeries. Dr. Hunter is also very good and knees are his specialty. He is at MCG Sports Medicine and he is currently working on my ankle and trying to find someone to do a subtalar fusion on my left ankle. I couldn't continue with Dr. Duncan because of insurance.

Hi Kristen!
Thanks for the info, I am using 2 doctors, They are located across from University Hospital. My sister has used Dr Duncan and was well pleased. Do you know Drs Phillips or Hurtzurm? My internist for about 21 years (Dr. Stincer) closed his practice and I have really been having a hard time trying to find someone I am happy going to. My ankle woke me up really early this morning and the pain!! I have to call this Dr. Phillips back on Thursday I am going to suggest a MRI. I can't understand why he didn't when I was in his office on Monday. Keep me posted on your problem. I don't know the other doctor but I know they do have very good doctors at MCG.

I have never heard of or used either Doctor. Dr. Hunter came from LA to head the Sports Medicine center at MCG. I have been pleased with him and it made me feel better when he stated that he didn't know what was wrong with my ankle until he called several dr.s across the nation and they told him to look for an unstable heel. That's when I found out that I tore every ligament connecting the calcaneous to the talus ( heel to the ankle ). I have to have a subtalar fusion ( Dr. Hunter is looking for someone who knows how to do this surgery ). Unfortunately, this ankle will never be any better than 50% and I have to hold off on having a replacement until technology is better unless , when the dr goes into my ankle, it is worse than suspected and a replacement will be done then. I'll be 33 in less than 2 weeks and I have a 3 year old.
