Hi ladies

I had my LEEP in June 07 and my follow up appointment for colposcopy has just come through for the 6th of December!

I have been having sleepless nights for weeks waiting for this and I now feel sick.

Oh and I cant believe its on the day of my xmas party too, what a nuisance. I tried to change my appointment but didnt have another until after xmas and I would make myself waiting that long!

I really dont think I could go through another LEEP awake, it was so horrific the first time I shake and feel faint just thinking about how painful and awful it was then the bleeding afterwards was so bad. Plus I suffer with IC and it put me in a flare for 4 months of unbearable pain.......having to work full time was awful and I think I spent most of my time bleeding and crying. I am terrified of going through this again.

I think I will have to demand to be put to sleep!!!!

I need some support please I am so terrified I will need further treatment xx

Hello xx,I just got finished reading your post and several things came into my mind....

1) Why werent you sedated for the Leep,ANYTIME you have a procedure you can request to be sedated, why werent you?

2) A Christmas party can be shuffled around YOUR health is way more important,Last December I had OVER 9 body parts removed in a 18 hour with 9 doctors participating in it...I spent Christmas, new years, birthday, and Valentines plus some,I was in horrific pain always remember there is a upside to everything.

count your blessings its not so bad take it for one who knows.Take time for yourself and stop worrying.Let us know how things are going

Hello

thanks for you reply. As for your first question I wasnt offered any medication or sedation in the slightest. I didnt have a clue was LEEP was I was just told they were doing a procedure. It wasnt until after the procedure when I read the booklets they gave me on the way out I knew what it was. I was told the procedure would just be a bit uncomfortable but not painful..........has it was the most terrifying painful experience of my life!!!
What is sedation, does it just make you sleepy?

I guess it was so bad for me as I suffer with IC and vulvodyina. Thanks for your support.

I have had a bad 2 years with my health and feel like it will never end.

Sedation is "supposed to make you drowsy, however it will knock you out and its alot easier coming out of it then general anestisia, you wont remember a thing....They sedate people for colonoscopy, little procedures,I had 2 tubes in my back draining my kidneys they had to be changed out every 3 months I had them over a year they sedated me to do it.I know in the USA you can request medication to help you thru a procedure,Im not sure about the UK check with your Dr. first and tell them how you feel if they will not sedate you then I feel like go to another dr.

thanks very much! I think in the UK they dont offer it but I think If I just tell them I dont think I can go through it fully awake, they wont have much choice but to offer it will they?

Do it make you feel awful when you're sedated? how long does it take you to recover, as I want to be able to walk to the car without making a fool of myself :-)! I ended up fainting 3 times through the LEEP so I guess for some of it I was knocked out ha ha!
