sswillis 11-09-2007, 08:25 PM is it safe for my husband who has non hodgkin's to be around our granddaughter who has mono? SallyD 11-10-2007, 10:03 AM First off, I would ask his doctor....Is he undergoing chemo? My Dad is almost halfway done with his chemo treatments..and he is under strict orders not to be around sick people..at all. He doesn't even shake hands with people at church. I haven't even seen him for two weeks because I have had a sore throat. While undergoing chemo..the white blood cells are depleated..this makes chemo patients very suseptable to germs. If there is any chance he could catch this, I would say no. because my dad is so very weak at this point,( he has even begun falling because his legs are so weak) getting mono would assuredly be a major set back. Call the doctor. or even the chemo nurse. .Take care and God bless.sally sswillis 11-11-2007, 03:25 PM Hi Sally, thank you for your reply. Prayers are with you and your family as your Dad goes through his treatments. My husband is a 7 yr 2 month survivor, Praises, and currently not undergoing chemo. I know keeping him away from illness is priority, just wanted to clarify in my own mind, as trying not to hurt family feelings. Yes, he even spent a week in the hospital trying to recover from a very serious case of pneumonia. Chemo had brought his immune system to lower than low. Thank you again and hope your Dad does ok. sswillis |
