I was wondering how good V8 drinks are for you? I recently started eating fruits and veggies for 1/2 of my diet and find it hard to get a lot of calories in as well as get in enough fruit and veggies, even though that mostly all I eat.
I saw an add that have both a serving of fruit and a serving of veggies in one drink.
Are these drinks processed or are they almost as good as the real thing? I was thinking of adding it to my diet.
Thanks.

Well, obviously they aren't as good as the real thing, but if you can't get the whole product in, they are a good add-on. Better to drink them and round out your diet with them best you can than not. They do have lots of good things in them for you. Get the lower sodium kind.
You said that you mostly eat fruits and veggies; why is that? You will definitely have trouble getting enough calories and nutrients eating like that, you need some protein. Can you not eat some fish, poultry, or beef in some form? What about eggs or dairy?

Thanks for your reply.
I tried going raw food (only fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds) but it only lasted a few days. I think it would be great if one could stick with it.
I've since added oatmeal, lean meats and very few "bad" foods to my diet. Trying to have lots of fruits and veggies though.

If you're going with the regular V8 (not the fruit ones) make sure to get the low sodium variety. The regular V8 has quite a bit of sodium, and most people get plenty of sodium in their diet without adding more!

There as good for you as pasteruized juice is, which isnt as good as most people think.
They beat the hell out of soft drinks but drinking some V8 every day is no where NEAR as nutritional as eating live veggies every day.

Not sure if this is same V8 in the uk but its a veg type fruity juice. My Child will not touch veg at all, so i buy that for breakfast juice. But i was a bit worried as the colouring in it is horrible, obviosly it has carrots in it, so its BRIGHT orange. It's also sold as long life product until its opened then has to be refriderated, so you wonder how much other stuff has gone into it, EG colouring and preservatives. I still have it, but i do worry that its not all its cracked up to be.
