I had a completely different surgery, an ankle reconstruction, and the swelling never went away. I have had a loss of feeling in that foot. When I asked about it, I found out that I had peripheral neuropathy induced by surgery. The dr had cut a nerve which is a risk of any surgery. I would ask about this. Last year I took oral steroids trying to bring down the swelling and it didn't work, I wound up having a 3rd surgery and now should be having a 4th soon.

I just had mine done on Sept. 15, and I have what the doctor called "moderate" swelling.
However, both of my sisters who had theirs done had swelling for about six months. One of them said her foot didn't feel 100% normal for almost a year.
Like you, I don't like the swelling either. It's making it hard for me to do my toe exercises.
I hope there's some help out there for us. Or maybe we just need to be patient? Argh!

MJ,
My dr also suggested the same stockings you are talking about...I bought a pair from his office for $15.00..maybe your doc can get them also?..the name brand is: "JOBST" Support Wear

I believe mine are the light compression, although looking at the box it doesn't really indicate.
