I have had back surgery, three years ago and ever since my life has changed. The pain is better, so glad, but other parts, not so much. I don't cook anymore, don't do aerobics. I push myself through work and when I get home I attach myself to the couch and my heating pad, then when I go to sleep, I am down for nearly 12 hours. If I wake up about 8-10 into it I have this head achy feeling, like I am drugged and I am only able to make it downstairs to the couch before falling back asleep. Granted, the last four hours are usually spent tossing and turning bc my low back and upper back hurts (yeah, chronic pain too). I finally get up, and go to work. I never feel rested-if I don't take something to knock me out, I toss and turn bc I am uncomfortable and my mind just goes and goes. I can shop for four hours but man, when I am done I am beat. I can't wait to lie down.
I haven't posted here yet, I am hoping someone might shed some light. The only sleep aids I have tried are benadryl, nyquil gel caps and a muscle relaxer. I don't know if a GOOD sleep aid would help, or if this surgery just took all the energy I had left. Just not sure. I am planning on seeing my GP soon.
Thanks
