My husband was diagonsed with AML (m5) 10 weeks ago. three rounds of chemo done and just waiting and waiting now. Being back in isolation always the hardest part. The team of doctors and nurses are fantastic and we have great faith in their abilities. He isn't having a transplant at this stage as he doesn't have a matched donor. We have much faith in God and lots of family and church support. The thing I find the hardest is how it affects the children and the normal life we used to lead. They have to miss out on so much because Dad is sick. They have had to move schools, leave friends and activities and our home to be close to Dad at this time. I have taken leave from my job and spend almost everyday at the hospital. Sure know lots more about leukemia then I did 10 weeks ago. I think about relapse a lot as his risk is higher because he can't have a transplant. How long before that happens no one knows. Still each day brings us closer to going home. I often think of 'Dory" in the movie 'Finding Nemo" and how when anything bad happened she would say "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming", and that's what we have to do. God bless you all on the journey's you are travelling and may he bring you peace.
