Two of the most common triggers are chocolate and caffine, as are hormonal changes and weather. I've had migraines for over 30 years and my number 1 triggers are chocolate, red wine, weather, and hormones. I can't remember the last time I had any chocolate or a sip of red wine. There's little I can do about weather or hormone changes, I just try to eliminate as many other triggers I can during those times.

What treatments are you using?

One thing I've used with some success for menstrual cycle migraines is taking one Excedrine the day before, the day of, and the day after. Sometimes it only lessens the pain but sometmes it keeps it away. When it doesn't work (about 50% of the time) Imitrex works.

For the really bad ones I also use an ice pack wrapped around my forehead. I use one of those gel freezer ice packs, slip it long-wise into a pillow case so I can easily wrap it around my forehead and keep it in place.

This is weird, but I've noticed that I only get migraines in the summer.

I've read about high pressure days causing them too, and I think those days also cause me to have one.

Flashing and/or bright lights will do it to me every time. Some types of weather changes also will trigger one in me. I have found that if I take Three Aleve or Motrin along with a Benadryl and something that contains caffeine and if I take it during the aura and other warning signs, I can eliminate a lot of the pain and all of the other symptoms.
