My son was just born with what the doctor called a pelvic kidney. I was even able to see it on the x-ray. A week ago at his four month check-up, his ped wanted an ultrasound done because he says he thought he felt his kidney and it felt stiff. So we had the ultrasound done and his ped says that he does not think he has a pelvic kidney. The first diagnosis of a pelvic kidney came from a neonatologists in the NICU. The reason he was in the NICU was because he was born with hyperspadia, but that is another thread for another time. My questions are what are the concerns with a pelvic kidney and is it possible for the kidney to shift into its normal spot? Thank you.

The biggest concern with a pelvic kidney is that care has to be taken with contact sports when a child gets older. I thing it still may move but this is not my area of expertise. Good luck.
