View Full Version : New veneers

Last week I received full mouth ceramic veneers. I hate them. They are too big and yellow, after I repeatedly requested small, very white teeth. A friend told me that the dentist can order any shade teeth I want and that A1 is the whitest shade, like a sheet of paper. Is this correct? The dentist says the whitest shade the veneers come in is only 2 shades lighter than what I now have, which still has a marked yellow undertone. I don't understand why the lab cannot make white veneers, like I see daily on every newscaster on TV and on celebrities.

The whitest shade of porcelain veneers is B1, however the cement used to fix the veneers comes in various colours, so by using a lighter shade the veneers can be made to appear lighter. Unfortunately, the veneers can't be removed after cementing without destroying them. So far as the size is concerned, they have to fit on the existing teeth so they can't be made smaller. Could you not have asked for bleaching before going for veneers?

Thanks for your answer. I did have bleaching recently. Are porcelain and ceramic veneers the same? So if the dentist redoes them, I should ask for B1 and not A1? (Plus whiter cement).

Yes, porcelain and ceramic are the same.
To be honest, the difference beween A1 and B1 are negigible.
You could ask for composite resin veneers, not so colour stable but cheaper (no tecnicians bill) and easier to change colour and repair.
