I FOUND OUT HAVING FIBRO ALMOST 2 YEARS AND I CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW FIBRO WORKS IS OR WORKS ON THE BODY TO MY HUSBAND AND HIS FAMILY HOW AND WHY! MY GRANDMOTHER AND GREAT AUNT DIED BECAUSE OF IT AND MY SISTER AND I HAVE IT. I REALY WOULD APPRECIATE SOME HELP! THANKS ALOT.
Well first of all you don't die from it so please relax. It is very difficult to explain to others and some never understand. Maybe you can get a book that describes it and pass it on to those you wish to explain it to. I will say however that this is no guarantee that they will ever understand and trying to make someone understand is exhausting. For those who don't want to know about it or don't believe in it, sadly you can't really change them. They either accept it or they don't. Don't waste your precious time and energy trying. Save it for the things you like to do. You can also direct them here so they may get a better understanding but I wouldn't keep trying after that.

I stopped trying to explain my fibromyalgia to my extended family. They just thought i was depressed and mental. My husband and kids read "Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain, A Survival Manual" by Devin Starlanyl. It helped immensely and I still read the book and that was over 3 years ago.

I'm sorry but I must say hog wash to you. It may not kill you directly, but I am sure that I will eventually die from an illness that is caused by lack of movement, meds, obesity due to medication. And, they just began to learn about this as a CNS disease. So, I have a friend with MS. The meds that she takes compromised her immune system. Guess what, now she is dying of stage 4 cancer. She did not die directly from MS but she was more succeptible to diseases because her immune system was compromise. Hence, all is related. Fibro can kill you. It eventually will take your sole. Sometimes it takes a little longer, but it will happen. It takes your life, it stops you from doing things that you once loved to do. So, I disagree. I died many years ago and now I just exist. But, maybe my symptoms are worse. And, everyone is different. I suffer from every symptom that is listed. All I can tell you is take care of you. You are numero uno. Put yourself first. Then you will be able to share yourself. Take it easy. Don't allow yourself to get stressed out!!!! Nobody or nothing can stress you out. We create stress ourselves. Say NO when you do not feel like doing something. I found the less I eat the better I feel. But, I have the IBS, too. If my tummy is icky, or I am bloated, the rest of me is just as bad. Find a good doctor. Boy, and they are hard to find. Although, docs are better about believing fibro now, they still have a long way to go. Take baby steps; don't overdue. Write it down. You will find that some things will make you flare. Talking to my husband gets me everytime. Good luck and take care. I am getting some vertebraes fused tomorrow, so I will pray for you. Will be back in about a week.
