View Full Version : Anyone know anything about titers?

For a couple of years now I have had unexplained fatigue, ob/gyn issues and just a heap of vague, nonspecific symptoms. After going to doctor after doctor I finally made it in to see a rheumatologist (I have dryness of the mouth/vagina and was thinking sjogren's). This doctor pointed out something on some labs I'd had drawn a few days prior by my internal med. doctor. It was an ebv titer, something I requested. When I called my internist I was told my results were normal. Well, the rheumatologist did not think so.

Here are my results and lab values (the important ones anyway).

EBV PANEL-CPL 4550
EBV VCA IgG >750.0

(In order to be considered positive the lab had to show a value of >/=22.0. Mine was >750)

EBV NUCLEAR AG IGG 140.0

(For this test to be positive there has to be a lab value of >/=22.0 as well. Mine was 140.0. There was no >< symbol by that one.)

If anyone here knows lab values concerning this kind of thing let me know if this shows anything. Because the rheumy wasn't sure but thought the findings were very high and therefore thinks its EBV that's been causing these issues. Thanks!

Hi

This might indicade an active infection. However it would be useful to know of what units we are talking of! 750 apples? potatoes?
