I have a mix of anxiety and depression. SSRIs help but make me way too tired, same goes for effexor. I would like to take wellbutrin but I know it's not the best for anxiety since it sort of revs some people up a lot. plus, my anxiety is OCD, though very well under control through therapy
has anyone with anxiety/depression used wellbutrin? I need a non-ssri option or an ssri plus stilumant, and id prefer to go with wellbutrin if at all possible

I have to say for me Wellbutrin was the worst thing I ever put in my body. My anxiety was out of control.

One you could try is Prozac.

i just started Zoloft and I have energy from this med. so prozac and zoloft (so far) are the only ones I have ever had some energy from.

Another thing you could talk to your doctor about is Provigil.

If I am getting tired on zoloft then my doc is going to rpescribe Provigil give me a bit of energy and focus.

I was on zoloft for 4 years and it controlled my anxiety to the point that I was able to ween myself off of the drug because it caused me to gain 50+ pounds over the course of 4 years. After about 9 months of taking xanax (as needed) which was probably once or twice per month the anxiety symptoms came back TWOFOLD......heart palps, finger tingling, etc. I went to my doctor and had all of the tests done, EKG, Stress Test, etc and all came back normal. So I then went to the psych and he recommended me trying generic Wellbutrin (Buproprion sp?)) because it has ZERO weight gain (actually it is in trials as a weight loss drug). While I have seen some improvement, it hasnt been life changing over the last 2 months. To be honest, I dont know if it is the right drug for me but I cannot imagine putting on more weight by going back on an SSRI so I am going to see how this works. So to answer your question, I am on it, and it has made me feel better.....not 100% better, but better then I was before I was on it.

Anyone else out there on Wellbutrin??? I feel like it isnt perscribed to anxiety patients......is this the case???

Wellbutrin caused my anxiety to hit the roof. I'm so glad you could dtand it.

I have actually lost weight so far on this med and it has only been a week. So I am thankful for that and I hoe it continues.

Everyone is different.

My sister was on Wellbutrin for depression and lost 5 immidiatly and she really liked it.

The only time I tried wellbutrin, it was for smoking cessation. I'm still smoking. I'm on .25 mg of (zoloft)- so far so good. I will say that I was on Prozac a long time ago and my anxiety went out of control. I felt like I was on speed. I couldn't eat, sleep, or do much of anything but flip out. I did lose weight, but in my case this was not a good thing. It's interesting that symptoms turn up so differently in people, though....I've known people whose lives were literally saved by Prozac.
