View Full Version : could this be symptoms of a seizure

This is a new symptom for me & I don't know if it's part of seizure, migraine or nerve pain. I have the feeling in my head, usually back right side, of an electrical zap or shock. I feel like I have to move or get out of bed or it will happen again. I have had them a few times b/4 in my legs. I thought at first it might be restless leg but it doesn't happen on a regular basis. The head zaps are the scariest. Anyone experience this? Thanks.

No one has had these symptoms? I'm guessing it's not a seizure, but what?

Sorry you haven't received any responses, Sammi...Have you spoken to your neurologist about these "zaps?" I've experienced little zaps before--usually leading up to a simple or complex partial seizure OR if I'm titrating on a new AED. You also suffer from migraines so perhaps it's related to that?

I say it can't hurt to tell your doc about this latest development. Maybe it's something as simple as a med. adjustment?

Best of luck....

I have just been diagnosed with epilepsy and I get those head zaps too. Generally after them I go into a seizure though. Within a few hours I go into a complex partial seizure then im wasted for hours afterwards.

Ive just started tegretol and the zaps are now starting to lessen off..

I get a zap on the right side of my neck. I have a VNS but thats the left. The way I describe it is it's like a mosquito bite & each time I 'slap' my neck then realize it wasn't mosquito. That all happens in about 15 seconds

Lamb,

Just wondering, the feeling you get that makes you think it may
be a mosquito bite is that on the same side as the VNS or the
other? If it is the same side as VNS,how often do you get the
feeling?Just wondering because my doc has been talking to me
about getting a VNS.Thanks,Sherri

I had a grand mal seizure in March of 2000.* I have not had any since, but have had two EEG's that show abnormal epileptic activity in my brain.* I am currently on Topomax and Kepra for the type seizures that I am having.* I would consider them to be the same as what you are describing.* They can best be described as lightning going off in my head.* These occur on the left side of my brain as well as in my left ear.* They jolt me so hard at times that my husband will see me jump.* I also have tinitis in the same ear.* The symptoms are getting worse and the last few days they seem continuous.* My neurologist just tells me to keep up the meds to see what will be controlled, but I feel that they are not under control at all...really getting worse.Does this sound the same as to what you are experiencing?* I have not had them in any other body location....only in my head. Thanks!
