They give you the long needle so that it will clear all of the tissue and go into the muscle of your thigh. If your child is thinner or is taking the injection in a thinner area such as the arm you may be able to get your doctor to get you smaller needles. Up until now I have been going to an injection clinic for my injection. I get the injection in my arm and the nurse switches out the needle for a smaller one.

Hi.. I also am on Avonex, love thats its once a week. I cant stand the lond needles..
I now use the smaller needles, much easier too. I do mine in the front middle thigh. I'm not a overweight woman so the nurse said they still go into the muscle.

My main question was ( for some reason all of the message I send didn;t go thru) at what angle is the smaller needle given..My daughter takes it at mid upper leg. I know for the long needle is at a 90 degree angle..All feed backs are welcome..thank you

I take mine in the front mid thigh at a 90 degree angle.
