The HIDA scan is an important test of gallbladder function, ie, is the gallbladder contracting and moving bile when it is supposed to; is there blockage in the ducts leading out of the gallbladder.
A few folks on this board have reported feeling ill and/or nauseous after the CCK injection portion of the test. I didn't feel any effects from the test, but did fail the test at 23%.
Like a lot of tests, it is just a matter of being still while the test is conducted; make sure they give you a blanket to stay warm.

I had one about a month ago. My gallbladder function was 88%. Once the "stuff" was injected in the IV, about 15 minutes into it - I felt some hurt in my sides - don't know what that was! Colonoscopy is next - 12/11!

lavender, thanks for the reply. I had already had it done when i posted i really wanted to know if anyone felt the pain i did! It felt likfe someone was ripping my guts and tugging on the whole abdomin area. I didn't feel anything around the gallbladder that was painful. I should find out the results tommorrow sometime and will post here. When i had my ultrasound first the dr. would only say they saw something but couldn't tell thats why the hidiscan was done. I hope it's nothing bad ugh.
