Hi ladies, sorry for this barrage of questions, but has anyone had a period that wasn't due immediately after a colposcopy with biopsy? My period just started, less than 24 hours after my colpo, and it's only been 16 days since my last period. Thanks.

Are your periods normally very regular?? If this is not normal for you, then I would definately call your OBGYN a.s.a.p. to get their input...

Yes, normally my periods are regular like clockwork, with normal monthly ovulation. I was taking Aldactone for acne and hair loss, which can cause menstrual irregularities, but it's been 2 months since I took my last pill, and my periods are getting way worse. Judging from what the gyn-onco saw yesterday, it's not the dysplasia that's causing this bleeding. I put in a call to them and his nurse said it was absolutely not from the biopsy (altho she didn't think it important enough to ask the doctor about it). I tend to agree just because the colpo and biopsy felt like nothing and I forgot I had it done, so I exercised a few hours later--nothing hard core, and no weights--is this bad? (I know you aren't supposed to do that for a few weeks after leeps, but I didn't have a leep.)

Does anyone know if bleeding so much can affect dysplasia or clearance of HPV? That's my primary concern right now, although a period every 2,3 weeks is the pits. I know rapid cell turnover "down there" is really bad if you have CIN, of any stage, but there is nothing I can do to stop the bleeding short of going on the BCP, which I can't take for other reasons (and it wouldn't even address the problem, which seems to be lack of ovulation every month).
