It appears that you have bulged disk that are pressing on some nerves in your lower back. Does it cause any leg pain or numbness or is the pain more in your lower back? Does the report mention any disk that are herniated?

;)Thank You for your answer.Yes, I have leg pain and servere pain in lower back and buttocks. It also states that at L2-3 the disc space is narrowed with minimal bulging left greater than right with facet degenerative change resulting in mild central stenosis and perhaps slight encroachment on left lateral recess. It seems that I have at L3-4 narrowing and bulge greater than right where there is encroachment on existing nerve root.L4-5 central and left sided bulge encroachment on exit foramen and exiting nerve root.L5-S1 central bulge.L4-5 left bulge with flattening of thecal sac and narrowing the exit foramen.Mild bulging Disc and Facet Degenerative change L3-4 and slightly lesser degree L2-3with foraminal narrowing on the left.Thank you so much for any information that you can give me on this!!

I am awaiting another surgery for nerve entrapment at L5 and S1. They are going to do foraminotomies at these levels and then they are going to remove the bone spurs at L3/L4 with a laminotomy. I had a double fusion in 2005 that didn't take care of all my issues. I had a back/front fusion that took almost 8 hours. I had two herniated disk and spondy. I now have the pain in my back around these entrapped nerves and around the hardware. I think in your case you wouldn't need a fusion. I hope you don't. It is so final. Your doctor could answer that, but do get second and third opinions. You probably have several options, if surgery is even needed. Your's sounds like mostly nerve entrapment and not disc herniations or spondy. Read over past post on spinal stenosis and discectomy. You might want to get a EMG test on the nerves that are on the report. My guess on the nerve for the buttock and leg is the L5/S1. In my case that is the area that really hurts in my back and my buttock, legs, and feet are all involved. If your surgeon thinks the disc are herniated, then they can do a discogram. In some case just a little PT and the issues go away.
