My sister was diagnosed with abdominal cancer recently. A little more than a month ago tumors showed on her ovaries that were cancerous. She had complete hysterectomy and appendix removed also. She has been literally fighting for her life ever since, with complications as her digestive/intestinal system shut down; infection; partial lung collapse and recently a life threatening blood clot. All this in 1.5 months. The doctors say this cancer is aggressive and dangerous, though they said she responded well to the first two rounds of chemo. They said they got most of the cancer and are treating "cancer markers". It's confusing to me. (she is in NC and I am in TX and cannot get to her). Anyone familiar with this type of cancer? or survived it? This all SO unexpected and very upsetting (my sis is 56 yrs old). Thank you for any info!

I know how you feel,my dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer this past October and some was in his stomach...since then he had reconstruction surgery(which hes still in the hospital for) the Dr. said he removed all the cancer but thier was still tiny cancer cells left that could only be seen with a biopsy so he needs to have chemotherapy.

The Dr. said esophageal cancer had become quite common but can be fixed if found early. The problem is that esophageal/abdominal cancer has mostly the same symptoms as acid reflux and ulcers.

So,based on my dads doctor...yes you can survive it.

Hope things turn out well ;)
