fibrostuff 11-21-2007, 10:41 PM I know it (cold weather and fibro) has been posted about on here, but I did a quick search and couldnt find it.
I just got in from outside, where it is quite chilly, and my calves were twitching like crazy, and a tightening feeling. My joints also have moment where they are painful (right wrist, left ankle, knuckle on hand...).
Anyone experience similar?
Have a great holiday everyone!
YES! I hate the cold. The pain increases as do muscle spams joint pain and swelling. With me though high heat/humidity, hot baths do this as well so I figure I need about 75 degree dry weather to function.
fibrostuff 11-22-2007, 03:45 AM kdel- the cold AND the heat bother you? This fibro is such a mystery.
Yes the cold and the heat, But there is also a strong possibility that I have Lupus as well or possibly MS. I'm on that crazy diagnosis merry go round. Fibro is definite, I've been diagnosed for over 10 years now. When I was diagnosed my blood work was ok, now it's a mess.
fibrostuff 11-24-2007, 04:08 AM What specifically is wrong in your blood work, if I can ask?
And have they checked your Vitamin levels?
My bloodwork shows a positive ana but not high positive and a speckled pattern, my igm level has been rising and it's now at 975. There are some bands showing which I forget right now. I'll have to write back, My son just got up, but yes vitamin levels checked out ok except for a slightly low iron level-Not enough to be a concern and probobly due to the fact that I had just finished my period since it doesn't consistently show low.
I'm back, as far as igm serum it should be between 48-271. Now the bands: the reprt says: Bands in igm kappa and lambda are present against a polyclonal backround.
I really don't know what all this means and so far no one has been able to tell me for sure so I was told to just keep checking it every few months to see if anything changes??
Jenetti 11-25-2007, 08:40 PM same here, cold weather really intensifies the pain and muscle spasms. Even is if its just rain without the cold, any change in the weather like that, causes me more pain.
fibrostuff 11-25-2007, 10:00 PM Thanks for the replies. Maybe I just never made the connection before, or it is just more intense this year. But I am really noticing it. I never had problems with the muscle spasms until this year. Is that a problem for a lot of people?
Hi, muscle spasms are a HUGE problem for me also. The left side of my neck all the way down my shoulder and arm and entire upper left side of my back are the worst! Sometimes I can't even turn my head or use my arm. I get them all over but this is the worst!
fibrostuff 11-27-2007, 12:44 AM It is so bizarre. I have had fibro over 10 years and this is the first of the muscle spasms. Or maybe I had them years ago and I've blocked it out!
I have also had fibro over 10 years and did not have severe spasms like I do now. The spasms started to get really bad about 4-5 years ago. I suppose this could be due to a decrease in activity because of the rest of the pain.
Also, fibrostuff-You asked for my bloodwork, did you see it? any comments?
fibrostuff 11-27-2007, 10:23 PM Kdel- I did see it and felt stupid that I didn't know what any of it meant!
I haven't been to a dr. about my fibro in years because last time I went they didn't know much. Can blood work determine a lot with fibro?
I just was curious about your Vitamin D level, something a lot of doctors don't check.
Thanks so much for chatting with me!
Fibrostuff, Please do not feel stupid! Even the doctors can't figure it out except to say that it's not all fibro related. Some of the stuff in my bloodwork indicates inflammation which can be related but the rest may be headed towards Lupus- Just not enough so far for a definitive diagnosis. Also all the tests that could be done for Lupus have not yet been completed.
neurowreck 11-28-2007, 04:35 PM The cold is very painful. I've also go a knee replacement, that causes cold from the metal to come from the inside out on that leg. My muscles hurt a lot, and massage therapy is out of the question since the idea of being touched horrifies me as a major increase in pain.
fibrostuff 11-29-2007, 03:19 AM I'm glad leg warmers are back in style and in the stores! When I get in from outside my calves could use some warming up.
Thanks!
sunny47 11-29-2007, 05:06 PM Where did you find the leg warmers. I live in south Florida and have wanted some. I want them for my arms while at work. My arms and hands freeze - work on computer. If I put on jacket/sweater my body gets to warm.
Would be nice to have also since I am going visiting soon to up state New York.
