Hi, I'm Sandie and a newbie to this forum. :)

I've had a couple of chemo treatments (basic 4 for hodgkin's lymphoma) and lost a good deal of my hair, so I did the 'buzz cut' and it feels great:)

I've noticed and area on my scalp (very FRONT, bummer!) that has turned 'charcoal in color', and the freaking oddest looking black 'hair' I've ever seen. I know about the hair changing, but the color of the scalp?

My hair was auburn/turning silver, lol..

Anyone else have this experience w/their scalp?

thanks muchly,

Sandie in S.Carolina

Hi Sandie,
I have Hodgkn's, too.
I finished treatment, and am waiting to have my PT/CT scan next week.

I "held on" to what hair I had...which is not much.
It's very thin, but my head gets soooo cold. I've been wearing knit hats here at home, I get so cold.

I don't think your scalp thing is anything to worry about. Chemo does a number of weird things to us, so I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't caused by that.

Do you have hats, wigs, etc...to cover it up? Maybe even try some powdered makeup to cover it, if it bothers you.

Are you scheduled to have any more treatments?
I had 8 chemo's & 20 radiation treatments. It's been rough...I'm still "not there," but there's a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak.

Welcome to the Board.
It's nice to have you here.
S.
