Hi,

I am curious about what self-help books people recommend to read on dealing with anxiety/fear/panic--I am open to any suggestions!

Thanks!

I like:

"Hope and Help For Your Nerves" by Dr. Claire Weekes
"The Anxiety & Phobia Workbork" the 4th edition by Edmund J. Bourne

The workbork is CBT

The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook by Edmund J. Bourne
From Panic to Power by Lucinda Bassett

both of these books helped me alot.

Thanks! I just bought the workbook-I'd been meaning to buy it forever, but I was a little embaressed (I know that's totally silly of me.)

I will check out From Panicc to Power--any other suggestions?

What about more spiritual or philosophical books? Not that I am religious, but I am open to suggestions--especially Buddhist books on fear, etc.

If you are looking for something spirtual, I really like "Everyday Encouragement" by Pamela McQuade. Each page focuses on a different topic and scripture reading, followed by words of faith and encouragement. I believe they do have a few pages that focus purely on anxiety, but all of the messages are nurturing and comforting. Also, I liked that I could read one page every night before I went to bed (so I didn't feel overwhelmed). It's really a great little book.

One book that I didn't care for was "Feeling Good" by David D. Burns. For me, I found the reading so dense and overwhelming that it failed to help me. It does have some great information, but it was just too much for me.
