hello all,
i will try and make this is short as possible. I am a chronic pain patient, i have DJD , bulging discs, and fibromyalgia, which causes a lot of pain, i have moved to a new area and the primary doc i am seeing is not helpful, she doesn't like to use narcotics for pain even though I have 7 years of records backing up every method of treatment tried and failed. I am on short acting oxycodone 30mg prescribed 2 tabs 4 X a day, which is lower than i was prev on, with my old doc before i moved i was on 80 mg oxycontin 3 X a day with a BT med, either that or the 75 mcg duragesic with the BT med. my prob is my pain is not being controlled AT ALL, and I was just discharged from the hospital i was in for 8 days for a pulmonary embolism (blood clots in my lung) in which causes SEVERE chest pain! in the hospital they were giving me 80 mg oxycontin every 6 hours as well as IV dilaudid 2mg every 2-4 hours for BT pain, this was helping a lot more. I am now home and getting almost no pain relief with all the probs im having, i advised my fam doc, and she says im on a high enough dosage, I went back to the ER last night thinking i was having a heart attack, they gave me some IV fluids, one injection of dilaudid in my IV and said my doc would have to prescribe my pain meds, my question is what should I do, im desperate i have a home to take care of , as well as a son who is a toddler, I can't simply lay in bed in tears all day long, I see a pain management doc next month, hopefully he will help more...anyone have advice????
