I was just wandering, does a routine CBC show anything in the blood if there is something seriously wrong or do they have to do certain blood tests depending on the problem? I was told that if there was something wrong that it would show up on a cbc but I'm not sure how that would.

A CBC will generally show if there is a problem although it won't always show what the specific problem is. If you still have problems even after a CBC then the doc might do something to look for other conditions that might be causing your problems. For example a CBC will not check for thyroid disorders so if he suspected hypothyroidism he would order a specific test for that. A CBC will show if your red or white blood cells are out of whack though.
