Guys, me and my gf wanted to get tested for all types of STD's and I was wondering what should I exactly ask for

1) Should I go to my primary care physician or a special STD clinic? My physician has offered to do STD testing before so I know they are capable of it

2) Also, how do I ask for it? Should I simply state I'm doing it as a precautionary measure?

3) How often one must usually test for these as a precautionary measure if you're sexually active (even if it's one partner) ? Or should it only be done when symptoms show?

4) I've gathered a list. To test these, would blood need to be required 7-8 times or simply 1-2 times?
HIV
Hepatitis B
SYPHILIS
Chlamydia
Gonorrhea
Herpes

5) How long does it typically take to get results back?

Thx

Hi. I'm a 43 yr old female and have been divorced for 8 years now. I've been tested at the my obgyn's office as well as my primary. My primary Dr filled out forms the bloodwork then I went to a lab. The lab drew the blood and then ran all tests for STD's. My results took anywhere from 2-3 weeks to get back the results. But keep in mind some STD's don't show up in the blood right away. Herpes can take 4-6 weeks to show up in the blook and HIV anywhere from 3-6 months. But good luck and I would say practice safe sex or abstinsence in the meantime.
Good luck... It's scary at first but worth it to know what you have, if you have anything at all.
Sara.
