Had an appointment with my gynecologist today. I had some bleeding and cramping, after menopause. It was from the HRT patch that my endo had me try for my osteoporosis. Means I can't have the patch anymore. So my gyne gave me a prescription for the nose spray, Miacalcin. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it and if there are any side effects?
I also went today for a back xray. Hope that it shows something!

I switched to the nasal spray after horrible side effects from Actonal.
I was using the spray for 3 months, had some headache but certainly liveable. When I was given novacaine at the dentist, I got a bloody nose. I called the company and they were interested as this was a first for them. I went off the spray until I am done with dental work.

I was on Miacalcin nasal spray for nine months. My only side effect was sinus problems that started about six months into it. After three months of sinus pain I finally gave up and quit taking it. The sinus pain has gone away now. I am on the hormone patch (Vivelle Dot) and it has helped me regain some bone density (comparing my dexa scans before the patch and one year after), but I also had a hysterectomy so my situation is a bit different than yours. The nasal spray is definitely worth a try. I hope you get some answers for your back! I have heard that Miacalcin can help relieve back pain associated with osteoporosis, so it may have a double benefit for you.

I have been on the nasal spray about 18 months. I just had a bone density test and it was much improved and in my hip and about the same in my spine. But I am not getting worse so I am encouraged. I have had little side effects which is a miracle for me. It does bother my sinuses from time to time. But that is about it and I don't have any bone pain at all. Good luck it is worth a try. It has helped me and I didn't have any options.
