My first experience with herpes was a genital outbreak of HSV-1, that was about 4 months ago. I am currently having something different, it feels like an outbreak, but it's in a different spot, closer to the anal area and I can't see it to see if it looks like an outbreak.
I have an appointment with my gyno later this week, I just want to know if it's OK to ask a gyno to look in this area. It's an embarrassing question to ask and I don't want her to be surprised if I ask her to test that area.

Yes. When I had my first outbreak in Oct, I also had a yeast infection as well. Fun stuff. Anyway my obgyn looked at everything. And then I was tested for all STD's etc. I found out that I had Herpes 1 and 2 down there!!! So yes it's possible. Herpes can show up actually anywhere on the skin: legs, buttocks, face, etc.
So yes it's possible.
Good luck.
Sara.

Trust me they have seen/heard it all. And yes, in my experience first the areas where just outside of my vaginal opening, then they cleared up and more appeared around the clitoral hood. And in my first outbreak they also came in the anal area. I though it was hemmroids but then got the blood work back and now I believe it was part of my overall HSV-2 outbreak. Ask/demand/request the doctor to look. That's what they are there for in the first place. Good luck.
