So this morning I found out that my culture came back positive for strand one in my lower region. This was the first time I had any type of noticeable ob and I got it checked right away. I finished my 5 day valtrex and it is now completely scabbed over. Would it still be worth it to get a blood test? My doctor said that it would come up positive because I just had my first outbreak? Is this true or should I ask another doctor?
Also, if I do have a reoccurance will it be more or less painful? And since its strand 1, does that mean I can get it in my mouth as well as where my first ob occurred on my lower half?
Please help as I am preparing to take the next step and tell my boyfriend.
