I just had this procedure done on my right tonsil due to an absess(sp?)on it. The ENT says my left one is absessed as well, but couldn't perform the procedure on that one today. He also said that my tongue was too big for my mouth! WTF??

Anyway, the procedure itself wasn't too bad...It's afterwards that's the absolute worst. I can't swallow, let alone eat anything and it feels like I have to cough up something. I have pain meds and antibiotics, but I sooo very uncomfortable. The doc wants me to come back in 3 weeks so that he can work on the left one but this has been the most painful experience in my life. I didn't have this much pain when I gave birth LOL!

Can I live with just 1 1/2 tonsils? I don't think I could go through this again http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I shouldn't have messed with them anyway...Apparently, I've lived with this problem for a very long time and it didn't affect me adversely, although I do get a lot of sinus infections. I just took his advice and now I regret it. Any advice?

If your ENT Dr. said you need the other one done, then you should get it done. I know it is painful. Try having both done at the same time. I had a completel Tonsillectomy 3 weeks ago and I am still having slight discomfort in my ears. The time passes so quick that you will forget about what the pain was like. Hang in there.
