I took an IgM test a couple of weeks ago and I was positve for type one and two. I took another 2 IgG test one about 14 days later one about 16 days later. I was negitive for type 2 with a .05 positive antibody, the amout of antibody you need for this test is 1.10. My type one IgG test was 1.39. I was told by one doctor that the results were confusing and I should get tested in another 4-6 weeks. I talked to another doctor and I have not heard back from you. This clinic usually doesn't call if the results are negative. But before I took the test she told be that my body would have enough time to make IgG antibodies, suggesting that if I took an IgG test at that point it would be positive. When I was first diagnosed I took 400mg of Acyclovir for 10 days. I don't have any more meds. I want to know if there is any way I can help my body fight off the type 2 infection or even if that is possible. I am assuming as it is right now I don't have enough IgG antibodies to be considered chronically infected with type 2 herpes. So I am assuming that I was exposed to it and my body still has a chance to fight it off. Am I right? I s there any medication, food treatment if I am right?

Your test results indicate you don't have type 2.
If you have HSV2, it will help protect you from getting HSV1, but unfortunately it doesn't work the other way around. You can still get Type 2 and the only protection is to make sure you check with your partners and ensure they've been tested.

One doctor said that I should get tested again in four weeks even after then negative IgG results for herpes type 2. He is unsure of the results because of the positive IgM results for type 2 and type 1. So I am assuming that there is the posibility the virus might become more severe and chronic eventually. It might be possible in 4 weeks that my IgG results for type 2 come back possive, I guess. I wanted to know if there is anything I can do to try and prevent this by taking certain medication or something.

Sorry. If you have it, you have it - there's nothing you can do now.
The IgM results are useless. They can indicate positive results if you have a variety of different antibodies, and the positive results are reflecting your HSV1 status as well. Don't even pay attention to this test. The virus doesn't get more severe or chronic in terms of bloodwork - the numbers vary a bit, but they will always do so regardless of how bad the virus is affecting you.
The only way your HSV2 results are going to change now is if it has been less than 3-4 months since the sexual contact that you suspect may have given you the virus. You never mentioned anything about this. It takes that long for the antibodies to build up to test positive. If it hasn't been that long, then get re-tested when it has. If it has been that long, then you are negative and don't waste your money with another test.

Thanks I had an IgG test done about a month after the encouter and I was
had a .05 antibody you need a 1.10 to be positeve. I guess I just have to wait. But it bothers me that the dedected any IgG antibody at all.
