Hello, I'm new here and I was reading the threads and thought I would pose my symptoms.

For a couple of years when I would become tired or what i thought was being over tired, i would get this flu like feeling all over my body. I just thought I needed some sleep.

However, now for the past 4 weeks or so, I am achy all the time, I feel like i have the flu. I get a sore throat off and on, but nothing severe like I am real sick. I also have numbness and tingling in my hands. I have been getting a headache every day for the last 4 weeks also, but mostly in the afternoon. It is hard for me to get up out of a chair after sitting for a while. I just plain don't feel good.

I know I need to go to the doctors but I thought I'd see what other people thought. My mother has fibromyalgia and she said it sounds like how she feels...but she also has some sort of blood disorder...(not sure exactly what).
She has also has her thyroid removed due to a tumor. Not sure if any of this is hereditary...

Thank you so much!

Welcome Luvon,
Glad you found us all here. Alot of good advice from wonderful friendly people.
I definately know where you're coming from with that terrible flu like feeling. Some days are worse than others for me. i get such a nausea feeling along with the body aches. I had to miss our family Thanksgiving Dinner this year, i was so weak with all this. Thank goodness for a understanding hubby, wish he would have went to the dinner but stayed homebound with me.
Since your mother has Fibro and recognizes your symptoms similar to hers, sounds like it would be best to visit your doctor. I've found the numbness and tingling just does not go away, my doc just started me on the Lyrica.
Welcome again, we're all here for one another.

Welcome Luvon,
I completely understand where you are coming from!!! And i'm sure there are others on this board who have been in the same boat. I thought I was going crazy or was some kind of hypochondriac before I was diagnosed completley by accident.
I can distinctly remember the first winter that my symptoms reared their ugly heads!!! It was flu season & alot of people in my office were coming down with the flu. I would be convinced that I had gotten the flu also cuz I felt fatigued & achy & would go home that nite convinced I had the flu like everyone else in the office. Then the next day I would be fine!!! This went on that whole winter & I never talked to anyone about it except for my husband cuz I didn't want to sound like a looney toon!! If I hadn't been seeing a neuro surgeon for the neck problems that ultimately required surgery, I wouldv'e never been diagnosed & would probably still be thinking I was a hypochondriac!!! Thanks to a diligent neurosurgeon who saw that the symptoms I was complaining about didn't match up with my neck problems & referred me to a neurologist who thru process of elimination diagnosed me with fibro.
The advice that I want to give you is to not discount what your feeling. Fibromyalgia is very real & you are the only one who can make yourself feel better. It sounds like you mite have it but the only one who can tell you for sure is a doctor. Diagnosis is just the beginning.......
Good luck & God Bless
